Welcome to Goblin Shark, a blog that has nothing to do with a weird looking shark and everything to do with my feelings about getting dressed.
Here’s a little bit about me: I’m a 26 year-old woman living in Washington, DC. I work for a higher education non-profit in a typical DC office. Until recently, my wardrobe has been an anxiety-inducing collection of cheap, ill-fitting jersey pieces from fast-fashion retailers. I bought a lot of clothes, but I never looked good.
One day, I stumbled upon the concept of a capsule wardrobe – the art of living with a small, intentional wardrobe and investing in well-made, classic pieces that won’t go out of style or die in the washing machine after two months. I was immediately hooked. That was a year ago, and now I’m proud to say that while I don’t have a perfectly curated capsule wardrobe, I do have a small, intentional wardrobe full of clothes that I love, and I’m equipped with a much better idea of how and what to purchase going forward.
Capsuling is an ongoing process for me now – choosing well and buying less. This is a blog for me to talk about that journey and for you to follow along with me.
Here’s what I’ve been wearing lately:
